Bobby Lamar Kinard, 78, of Tifton, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. D Eidson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery.
Born August 12, 1931, in Colquitt County to the late Jennings Ira Kinard and Thelma Mathis Kinard, Mr. Kinard was also preceded in death by one brother, James Laurie Kinard, and one sister, Juanita Theus. Mr. Kinard graduated from Tift County High School in 1950 then served in the U.S. Navy as a photographer from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Jacksonville Junior College in 1956 and attended Georgia Tech. Mr. Kinard worked with the planning division of the Georgia Department of Transportation for fifteen years, and later worked with a special unit dealing with non-highway activities (railroads, park/ride lots, airports, public transportation, and the navigation harbor in Savannah.) He retired in 1987. Mr. Kinard was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
