Norma Mae Piester Breum was born May 9, 1931 and died Jan. 9, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born and raised in Seattle, the daughter of Harry and Florence Piester. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949 and then from Washington State College, where she met her future husband, Lawrence Breum, who preceded her in death in 2005. They were married in 1953.
Norma is survived by her three children: Mike (Pam) Breum; Terry (Janet) Breum; and Cheryl Breum; eight grandchildren: Tyler and Sean Breum, Taylor, Carrie, Bethany, and John Breum, and Amy (Justin) Marshall and Sara Schlicker, and one great-granddaughter, Abbygail Marshall. She is also survived by her two sisters Karen (Jack) Carlson and Gail (Ben) Brower; brother-in-law Ray (Shirley) Breum, and sister-in-law Kate Storassli.
Norma worked for many years in her husband's dental office in Everett and on their farm in Stanwood. She was instrumental in starting the Bible Study Fellowship class in Mount Vernon, in which she participated from 1966 to 1996. Her greatest joy was telling others about Christ.
Lawrence and Norma were blessed with many lifelong friendships, including that of Richard and Pat S g Smith. Her family would like to thank the staff at Josephine care center for the 11 years of loving care Norma received.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan 13 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanwood. A viewing will be from 9 am- 4:30 pm Wednesday, Jan. 12, and 9-10am, Jan 13, at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Stanwood.
