~Martin Carlin, farmer on section 19, Fulton Township, is a son of Patrick and Bridget (Moran) Carlin, natives of Ireland. He was born on the Emerald Isle, County Mayo, Parish Bariscole, Nov 11, 1813.
He came to America when 33 years old and settled in Gratiot County, in the fall of 1852. He purchased 80 acers of land on section 19, Fulton.
He was married in Ireland, Feb., 1844 to Mary Masterson, who was born in 1825. To this couple have been born 12 children: Michael, Martin, Margaret, Mary, John, Edward, Jane, Thomas, James, Henry, Francis and Annie.
