Age 70, Is Dead

George Monroe Wilfong age 70,
died at his home in the south part
of town Friday at 3 P.M. foIlowing
an extended illness of chronic nep-
hritis. Wilfong had been in poor
health for a long time.
He was born in Vermillion county
on July 12, 1869, the son of Michael
and Beulah Stahl Wilfong and has
lived practicallv his entire lifetime
in Montezuma. He formerly worked
for the Ba1limore and Ohio railroad
but retired several years ago. His
position was that of car knocker.
George at one time served in the
capacity as town marshall and at the
time of his death, was alderman
from the lst ward. He was a Mason
and tites were in charge of the
Masonic lodge.
Surviving besides his wife, Mrs.
Fern Rohr Wilfong, are three step-
sons. Donald, John and Allen at
home, one sister, Mrs. Viola Fortner
of Ridgefarm; and five brothers. Eli
of Utah; John of Iowa; Lee of Ridge-
farm, Illinois; Clyde of Newport and
Milton of Hillsdale.
Funeral services were conducted at
2 P.M. Sunday from the South Side
Mission church. Rev. Everet Garrard
was the officiating minister and
burial was made in Oakland cemetery.
