He was born December 31, 1889 in Chrisman, Illinois, the son of Michael and Beulah Stahl Willfong. He married Joy Elsie Ditto on September 16, 1909. She preceded him death on May 23, 1926. Five children survive this marriage: Samuel James Wilfong of Ridgefarm, IL., Vernon Wilfong of CA., Lewis Wilfong of Milwaukee, WI., Lurabelle Bell of Georgetown, Illinois and Nellie Norma Houser of Willow Hill, Illinois. Leroy later married Sylvia Peral Myers Braner in 1937. She died in 1951. From this marriage were born four children: George Alan (Bud)Wilfong of Ridgefarm, Illinois, Patricia (Dick) Lamar of Georgetown, Illinois, Sandra (William) Drollinger of Fairmount, Illinois and Linda Wilfong of Chrisman, Illinois.
Other survivors include a brother John Willfong of University Park, Iowa., three step-children, Mrs. Mildred Jean McBride and Bill Braner both of Danville, Illinois and Lawrence Braner of Galesburg, Illinois; twenty-six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will e held Thursday, September 24, 1959 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brewer Funeral Home in Ridgefarm, Illinois with friends calling Wednesday evening. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery east of Ridgefarm, Illinois.
