Mary Davis, 73, Dies at Elwood

Elwood, October 23 - Mrs. Mary Caroline Davis, age 73, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Gladys Etchison on South D street. Mrs. Gladys Etchison on South D street, following a stroke suffered about a week ago. The body was taken to the Robert L. Jackey funeral home and will be returned to the daughter's home this evening. Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Brethren church in charge of Rev. B. T. Sanders and Rev. Floyd Everly. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Etchison and Mrs. E. Van Briggle, of Long Beach California; two sisters Nettle Henry of Frankton; and Mrs. Laura Early of Ventura California; one brother Manford Biddle of near Anderson. She was a member of the U.B. church. Her husband died in 1939.
