Elizabeth Boldenweck was a painter and voice instructor. She studied voice in Germany and New York before completing her bachelor's and master's degrees at the Sherwood Music Conservatory in Chicago, which was headed by her cousin, Georgia Kober. After three years of teaching at Graceland College in Lemont, Iowa, from 1942 until 1945, Elizabeth transferred to Randolph-Macon College in Virginia, where she taught from 1945 to 1946. She completed a second master's degree at the Chicago Music College from 1946 to 1947. Upon graduation, she accepted a position at Emporia State University in Kansas. Later, she returned to Chicago as a voice coach at the American Conservatory of Music and taught at Du Sable High School. From 1973 until her retirement in 1985, she taught music at Wells High School in Chicago. She sang in both opera and radio throughout the course of her career. The Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation awards an undergraduate voice scholarship in her name, and Bradley University has included her in its Illinois Women Artists Project at http://iwa.bradley.edu/artists/ElizabethBoldenweck.
