Biography:

from the Republican for Jan. 2, 1941:

Mrs. Amanda Wells Dies Here Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda A. Wells were held from the Christian church at New Winchester, yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Wells died at her apartment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Marshall, here (Danville, Indiana), Sunday evening, following a long illness. The immediate cause, however, was a stroke of apoplexy.

Mrs. Wells was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Boaz, born in Bath County, Kentucky, June 14, 1862. She was married to Flem Wells, also of Kentucky, December 29, 1881. The family moved to Indiana in 1903, and established a home near Hadley in 1905, where they lived until last fall, when Mrs. Wells and daughter moved to Danville for residence. Mr. Wells died November 5, 1933. Mrs. Wells was a member of the New Winchester Christian church.

Survivors are one sister in Owingsville, Ky., and sons and daughters, David, of Indianapolis; Arthur of Florence, Colo.; Lee of Fillmore; Mrs. Mary Miller of Coatesville, and Julia, at home.
