Thomas Gary and his wife were among the earliest members of Bush River Baptist Church, however, Newberry, Newberry County, South Carolina; they are buried in a private cemetery on the original Thomas Gary home place, as recited by the sons, John Newman and Samuel, when they sold the original home place on the line of Laurens and Newberry Co., SC.

"Estate to be divided into fifteen parts; two parts to Martha for her lifetime and to whoever she chooses to take care of her during her lifetime, shall have what is left. Two parts to my son, Charles Gary, and Thomas Gary to take care of him and maintain him during his lifetime and Thomas Gary to have what remains of his estate at his demise. (Perhaps Martha and Charles were incapicated.) I desire the other eleven parts to be equally divided between my other eleven children, viz: Elizabeth Williams, Thomas Gary, Anne Williams, Amery Teague, William Gary, John Gary, Rebecca Gary, Elizabeth Gary, Numan Gary, Samuel Gary and Sarah Gary.
