Miss Catherine C. Conaty, a lifelong resident of this city and sister of the late Rev. Thomas J. Conaty, first Bishop of Los Angeles and former rector of the Catholic University at Washington, DC died at her home, 33 Hodges Avenue late Thursday after an illness of two years' duration. The deceased who was in her 86th year, was a woman of kindly nature and was beloved by all with whom she came in contact. Her passing will be mourned by many who knew her as dear friend and companion. She was a faithful communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church and took an active interest in the many activities of the church until her advancing age compelled her to seek the seclusion of her home. Miss Conaty was born in this city, the daughter of the late Patrick and Alice (Lynch) Conaty. She was a member of the Massachusetts Catholic Order of Foresters. She is survived by four brothers, The Very Rev. Monsignor Bernard S. Conaty, Pittsfield, Vicar General of the Springfield Diocese; Francis P. Conaty and Joseph A. Conaty of Los Angeles, California, and John S. Conaty retired letter carrier of this city. Several nephews and nieces also survive.
