Car, Truck Crash Fatal on U.S. 40

An Indianapolis, Ind., man was killed and his wife injured when their car collided with a truck and overturned early yesterday on U.S. 40 in Northwestern Montgomery county.

Killed was Leonard Lee Banks, 31, while his wife, Joanne, 29, the driver, was in satisfactory condition today at Good Samaritan hospital.

Sheriff's deputies said the car skidded off the road, hit a parked truck and overturned, pinning Mr. and Mrs. Banks in the car.

Hoosier Killed In Crash

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) --- An Indiana man was killed early Sunday when the car driven by his wife collided with a truck and overturned on US 40 near Brookville.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies identified the victim as Leonard Lee Banks, 31, of Indianapolis. His wife, Joanne, 29, was critically injured.

Deputies said they learned that Banks had been cited Saturday night at Greenfield, Ind., for failure to have an operator's license.

An Indianapolis filling station owner, Leonard Lee Banks, 31, was killed in an out-of-state accident Sunday. Sheriff's deputies said Banks died in a U.S. 40 collision outside Brookville near Dayton, Ohio, when a car driven by his wife, who had been cited one day before for failure to have an operator's license, collided with a truck.

Rites for Leonard Lee Banks, 31, 4546 Carrollton, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Melton (Ky.) Methodist Church.

He was killed early Sunday when a car driven by his wife, Joanne, 29, collided with a turck and overturned on U.S. 40 outside Brookville, Ohio. His wife is in critical condition in a Dayton hospital.

Banks owned and operated a service station at 2109 E. 46th Street.
