CARTER, Alfred Stewart, 71, of Route 2, Rocky Mount, passed away on Friday, April 21, 1995 following a short illness. Mr. Carter recently retired from Moore's Building and Supply Company of Collinsville, Va. Mr. Carter was born in Bluefield, W. Va., the son of Alfred S. and Elsa Peck Carter. He graduated from Beaver High School and attended college in Colorado. He served in the European Theatre of the U. S. Army in 1943 to 1945. He was awarded the bronze star and other awards. Surviving are his wife, Aileen Anderson Carter; two children, Steven Craig Carter, Chapmansville, W. Va. and Lisa A. Abbatello, Roanoke; two grandchildren, Amanda Carter, Joseph Abbatello IV. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Goad; and is survived by three brothers and three sisters.
