Funeral services for Raymond John Tanking, 79, of Richmond, Texas will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2011 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd. in Sugar Land. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father Stephen Reynolds will officate the services. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Raymond was born April 25, 1932 in Seneca, Kansas to Anthony and Helen (Meyer) Tanking. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Sugar Land, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and enjoyed a 43 year career with Safeway Stores, Inc. Raymond passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 4, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Helen Tanking; and two sisters, Lila Burdiek and Lela Elder. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Ruthann Tanking; children, Barbara S. Tanking Orton, Diane R. Tanking and husband, Blanten Filak and James R. Tanking and wife, Lori; grandchildren, Chelsea and Zach Orton, Drew and Abby Tanking and Austin Filak; and sister, Donna Turechek; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
