Spooner Services

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday from Seydler-Hill Funeral Chapel for Miss Tom Spooner who died in Memorial Hospital at 10:05 p.m. Thursday.
The Rev. Gerald Evans and the Rev. Warren Hornung conducted the services with burial following in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
Miss Spooner was born in Gonzales on May 10, 1889, the daughter of Judge Thomas Harrison and Mollie Elizabeth Allen Spooner. The family home was at 207 St. Francis Street. She was the last immediate member of the T. H. Spooner family and was a life-long member of the First Baptist church where she taught for many years in the Sunday School Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Mrs. J. S. (Mattie Bell) Lewis, Kate Adele Spooner, Ella Massie Spooner, Mrs. C. W. (Moolie Elizabeth) Mason, Mrs. F. D. (Ruth) Kokernot, Sr., and two brothers, Thomas Harrison Spooner and Miller Sayers Spooner.
Also two nieces, Mrs. Clarence T. (Sue) Traeger and Mrs. Young (Mary Hulda) Hall.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Bryan (Ruth) Denman of Gonzales; and a nephew, Fred Kokernot, Jr., of Cuero. Also surviving her are six great-nieces, two great nephews, seven great-great nieces, and four great-greatnephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Fred Kokernot, Jr., Brent Denman, Charles Sharrock, Hensley T. Hurt, Bryan S. Denman and W. T. Miller.
