Otto Anderson Laid to Rest May 15th

Otto Anderson passed away at the Karlstad Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning, May 13, 1982, at the age of 90 years and 10 months.

Otto Anderson, the son of the late Ingeborg and Anders Evji, was born on July 13, 1891, in Evji, Norway, the youngest in a family of 6 girls and 3 boys. He grew to manhood there and was baptized and confirmed in the Evji Lutheran Church in Norway near his home. He came to America with his brother, Tom, on March 5, 1910, and together they farmed in Stephen area.

On March 16, 1919, Otto was united in marriage to Hulda Stromlund in Marshall County, and to this union were born two children: Mrs. H. (E.) Schmidt, and Wendell. Hulda passed away in 1926 and on January 30, 1910, Otto married Agnes Anderson at Warren. Mrs. G. (M.) Becklund and D. were born to this union.

Otto was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and on the Church Council for many years, and was a dedicated family man. In 1960, Otto and ‘Aggie' retired from farming and moved into Karlstad where they have since resided.

He is survived by his wife, Aggie; two daughters: Mrs. H.(E.) Schmidt, Stephen, and Mrs. G. (M.) Becklund, Deer River, MN; 1 son: D. Anderson of Argyle; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, son, grandson, and 1 great-granddaughter.

Funeral services for Otto Anderson were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, at the Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Henry Moyer, Rev. John A. Riveness, and Rev. Peter Schmidt officiating.

Interment was in the Salem Church Cemetery with the Collins Funeral Home of Karlstad in charge of arrangements.

Special music was provided by Ronald Fossell, with Mrs. Terry Johnson at the organ. Otto's many friends at services served as honorary bearers with B. and B. Becklund, and D., D., J., and J. Anderson serving as casket bearers.
