STROKE FATAL TO MRS. CHURCH
Was Resident of Lamoni 57 Years
--Survived By Husband and Two Sons
Death claimed Mrs. C. F. Church Thursday afternoon of last week following a stroke which she suffered a few days before. Although she had not enjoyed the best of health for several years, her passing was sudden and unexpected.

With her husband, Mrs. Church has been an Important citizen of Lamont for 57 years and will be missed by scores of friends. Surviving are the husband and two sons, Arthur of Kansas City and Charles V. Jr., of Bowling Green, Ohio.

Services were held Sunday from the Coliseum with Pastor D. B. Borden as the officiating minister and assisted by Bishop T. A. Beck and R. A. Cheville. Hymns used in the service were those composed by her father, Norman W. Smith, who was the author of several favorite hymns now used in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Laura Lorena Church
Laura Lorena Church was born September 12, 1863, at Hopkins, Allegan county, Mich., the eldest of four children of Norman W. and Ellen Smith. With her parents she came to Lamoni at the age of 18. Thus, she has lived in this community since 1882, a period of 57 years; passing away Thursday afternoon, February 1 at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 20 days.

She is survived by two brothers, John Smith, of Lexington, Ky., and Mark Smith, of Kansas City; also one sister, Mrs. Ruth Smith Gaarder of Blythedale, Mo.

On April 3, 1883, she was united in marriage to Charles F. Church, who had also moved to Lamoni from Hopkins, Mich., several years previously. This is the fifty-seventh year of their married life. To this union, four children were born: Lena, Arthur, Charles, Jr., and Barton.

The surviving children are Arthur B. Church, of Kansas City, and Charles, Jr., of Bowling Green, Ohio. There are ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Church united with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1873 and remained a staunch member of the church throughout the years.
