GLENDIVE: Pauline Josephine Coleman, 81, died Friday, March 11, 2005 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 16, 2005 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Glendive with Fr. Joseph Ponessa officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with the arrangements.
Pauline was born on May 8, 1923 in Dickinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Anton and Margaret (Meckler) Folz. Pauline moved with her family to Glendive in 1925. She received her elementary education at the Lincoln and Washington Schools there and graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1942. Pauline moved to Wallace, Idaho where she resided for two years before enlisting in the United States Navy. She served in the U.S. Navy in Spokane, Washington and Oakland, California from 1944 until her honorable discharge in Washington, D.C. in 1946, as a Yeoman 2nd Class.
Pauline married Andy MacDonald in Reno, Nevada in 1947. They divorced in 1952. Pauline returned to Glendive where she was employed as a secretary at the First National Bank of Glendive from 1959 until 1971 when she retired. Pauline married Johnie H. Coleman on December 6, 1969 in Glendive. Mr. Coleman preceded her in death on January 26, 1986.
Pauline was a member of the American Legion Post #28, was a past treasurer for VFW Auxiliary #1125, had been past treasurer for the Glendive Hospital Auxiliary and had been active in the Dawson County Retired Senior Volunteer Program, AARP and the Dawson County Cancer Society.
Pauline was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Pomeroy in 2005, Rose Hansen in 2004, and Beth Folz in 1949, four brothers, Harry Folz in 2003, Pete Folz in 1993, Joe Folz in 1984 and Johnny Folz in 1942.
Survivors include one son, Robert MacDonald of Modesto, California; one granddaughter, Trisha MacDonald of Castro Valley, California; two great grandchildren, Ashleigh Solarzano and Robert J. Solarzano; one brother, Frank Folz of Silverton, Idaho; one sister, Helen Hathaway of Rancho Murieta, California; numerous nieces and nephews.
