He married Esther L. "Sis" Campbell, daughter of George and Laura (Yost) Campbell, on June 13, 1934. To this union three children were born; a boy, who died in infancy, and two girls, Roberta and Betty. They also raised a third girl, Gloria, from the age of three.
They lived in Hand County until 1962, when they moved to Pierre.
