Delia was the Mother of Charles Stewart Parnell, the famous leader of the "Home Rule Movement" in Ireland in the 1870s-1880s.

She was born in the US in 1816, and died 1898 In Ireland. Delia's father was American Naval officer Admiral Charles Stewart (where Charles Stewart Parnell gets his name). Her mother was Delia Tudor, of the prominent revolutionary Tudor family.

Delia married Irishman John Henry Parnell

While at home in the Avondale estate in the Wicklow mountains south of Dublin, she was sitting too close to the fireplace and her clothes caught fire. She sustained serious injuries and died just 1 day later.
