Marian M. Spancake, 91, Hollidaysburg, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Presbyterian Home at Hollidaysburg where she resided.
She was born October 20, 1914, in Webster Mills, Fulton County, daughter of the late J. Harvey and Olive (Kendall) Mellott. She married Fred J. Spancake July 30, 1942, at United Presbyterian Church, McConnellsburg.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She graduated from McConnellsburg High School, Class of 1932, and from Juniata College in 1936.
In September 1936, she began her employment with Polk Township High School, Monroe County, in vocational economics. She retired with 17 years of service in 1979 as assistant librarian from Eiche Library, Penn State Campus, Altoona.
She enjoyed baking and cooking, housekeeping, crocheting and sewing. She was an avid reader.
She was a member of Hollidaysburg Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was an honorary life member of National Women's Association of the Presbyterian Church.
In her retirement years, she served as a volunteer working at Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Home.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years; two sons: Lee and wife Bonnie of York; Larry and wife Jan Stuart, Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren: Jodie and Dane; and a sister, Esther Nelson, McConnellsburg.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, at First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg. Rev. Charles D. Monts officiated. Interment was made in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove, Pa.
