Upon the early death of Emily Brown (#105974016) in 1924, her brother-in-law, Edward Brown (#77185814) and his wife, Bessie Brown (#77185884) obtained non legal custody of Pearl (Brown) Lievsay (#76849997), age 4, and her sister, Vera (Brown) Albert (#48874336), age 3, and raised them as their own daughters. Another brother-in-law, Joe Brown (#76647456) and his wife, Rebecca Brown (#76647371) obtained non legal custody of the youngest daughter, Ruby (Brown) Albert, age 2, and raised her as their own daughter.

Ruby Albert had two half brothers, Edwin Gerald McCoy, Sr. (#75676313)and Henry Curtis McCoy (#181208847), November 25, 1907 - February 16, 1978; and a half sister, Alma Rosetta (McCoy) Ballard, (#80835272).

Sisters Ruby Jean (Brown) Albert and Vera Beatrice (Brown) Albert (#48874336) married brothers, Raymond Joseph Albert (#28032933) and Alva Edwin Albert (#81696718), respectively.
