Alexander--- Jerry Rex Parris, 70, of 443 Alexander Road, died Sunday, June 26 2005.
Mr Parris was born April 12 1935, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. Rex retired from the State of North Carollina Prison Division after 18 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. Rex was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, he loved music and had been a singer with several groups through the years. He was the son of the late William M. and Jessie Ammons Parris and the husband of the late Bobbie Ann Loven Parris who died in 2000. His brothers, William Parris, Jr., Paul Parris, Raphel Parris, Hugh Parris, London Parris and sisters Katie Champion and Eva Ersek also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lewis Edwards Paris; step-daughter, Lisa Edwards Brooks and her husband Steve, of Alexander; step-sons, John Edwarda and his wife Regina and
James Edwards, all fo Weaverville; three- step grandchildren, Tyler Brooks, Brittany Edwards, and Seth Edwards.
The children and grandchildren loved Rex dearly and he returned that love back to them each and every day.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., with the Revs Roy McPeters and Joe Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times will be at Rex and Mary's other home, 10 Julep Drive off of Mag Sluder Road in Alexander.
