Alexander--William "Junior" Parris,78, of 439 Alexander Road died Friday, July 25 2003, at his residence.

Mr Parris was born August 27,1924, in Buncombe County, where he has lived all of his life. He was employed by the North Carolina State Department of Corrections before his retirement. Junior was a deacon of Alexander Baptist Church where he taught the Junior Boys Sunday School Class. He was the son of the late Will and Jessie Ammonds Paris. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Paul, Rafael, Hugh and Conley: and sisters Eva Ersick and Katie Champlin.

Surviving is his wife of 56 yeas, Anna Mae Haney Parris, one son Charles Stephen Parris and wife Carolyn of Kernersville: brother Rex Parris of Alexander and a grandson, Michael Shook.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Monday in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with the Revs. Gerald Sprinkle, Steve Rogers and Joe Honeycutt Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Garden of Memory.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
