THOMAS J. THEVENOW DEAD

Father of Tommy Thevenow, Cardinal Shortstop, Dies Suddenly.

Thomas Joseph Thevenow, Sr., aged 63, passed peacefully away t 11:05 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 903 west Second street. His illness was of short duration. Only an hour so so previous to his death he was walking about the house. His death was attributed to a heart attack.

Mr. Thevenow had been a life-long resident of this city and for nearly thirty years had been employed at the Planter's tobacco warehouse as a grader, where he worked Saturday. His efficient services and pleasant personality had gained for him a wide number of friends and acquaintances who will regret deeply to learn of his sudden death.

He was the father of "Tommy" Thevenow, who remains with the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team, playing at shortstop, and who was a member of the team at the time the Cardinals won the world's series pennant in 1926. Tommy together with the remainder of the family was at home at the time of Mr. Thevenow's death.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Lula Thevenow, he is survived by five children, three sons, James, John, and Tommy Thevenow, two daughters, Mrs. Albert Richey and Miss Stella Thevenow, all of this city. Mr. Thevenow held membership in the St. Michael's church and with the fraternal order of Eagles.

Funeral services will be conducted at the residence Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. Charles Gerdon. Interment will be int he Springdale Cemetery.
