Ernest Streit, 92, passed away November 29,2009 in Vernon, Texas after a brief illness. He was born January 28, 1917 in the Streit Community southwest of Vernon to George and Lena Streit Kahl. He was a retired farmer. He graduated from Five-In-One High School. He married Ida Van Loh in 1976 in Lockett, Texas. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Ida, of the home; two sons, Gary of Vernon, Texas and Dennis of Dallas, Texas; one stepson, Dale VanLoh of Dallas, Texas; one stepdaughter, Renee Havins of Amarillo, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Marguerite Rinefeldt of Fort Worth, Texas; Dorothy Wisdom of Thalia, Texas; Agnes Miller and Ruth Capps of Vernon, Texas. A memorial service was held on Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Neuberger and keith Kubitz officiating. He was cremated and his ashes were buried in Eastview Cemetery in Vernon, Texas on December 5, 2009.He was preceded in death by one sister, Annette McLean and two brothers, Homer of Vernon, Texas and George Streit of Electra, Texas.
