Donna Lou McCahon, affectionately known as "Donnie," passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, surrounded by loved ones at St. Catherine's Center. A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

Donnie was born in Franklin, Texas, to the late Prince John and Bessie Mae Blackburn, the eighth of 13 children. She grew up in Waco, attended Waco schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1941. She married Fred Curtiss McCahon Jr. in 1942, and they had two sons, Fred C. "Mac" McCahon III, and Robert Michael "Bob" McCahon. Donnie lived with her husband and sons in Houston until the passing of her husband, and then moved to Waco in 2004 with her son, Bob. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Donnie was a most loving, kind, and giving woman who lived by the Scripture daily. She loved spending time with her family and friends and truly lived out her faith. Those who knew Donnie will remember her for her joyful laughter and for being a true example of generosity and goodness to everyone around her.

Donnie was preceded in death by her husband; two sons; eight brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Crystal Espinoza and husband, Noah; her sisters, Jewel Copeland and husband, Newman, and Mary Soules and husband, Fred; and many much-loved nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
