WOMAN BURNED IN FIRE DIES FROM INJURIES

Mrs. Betty Alley Skirvin, 66, 408 N. Adams, burned severely in a fire at her home Nov. 3, Bloomington Hospital.

She had been in the intensive care unit at the hospital since her admittance.

Mrs. Skirvin was a seamstress in downtown Bloomington for about 17 years, with a shop in the Allen Building. She retired from her alterations business earlier this year and had most recently been day manager at the Laundromatic Quick-Service Laundry on 7th St.

She was a native of Boyd County, Ky., the daughter of the late Alonzo Carlton and Elizabeth Clark Alley. She was first married to Sterling H. Walker in 1917. he died in 1929, and she moved to Bloomington that year.

In 1942 she was married to Fred ("Tib") Skirvin, former city policeman who died in 1945. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She leaves on daughter, Mrs. Joe (Sharlene) Solomito, Prow Rd.; one son, Sterling H. Walker Jr., R. 1; three sisters, Mrs. Della Newman and Mrs. Mary Smith, both of Prichard, W. Va., and Mrs. Sarah Swan, Kenova, W. Va..; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A brother, Herbert Alley, died in 1965.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Allen Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Thomas L. Bush officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:30 p.m. today.

Pallbearers will be Russell Parks, Dale Rogers, Nathan Hall, John D. Rollins, Albert Skirvin, and Jack Bruner.
