Obituary: November 20, 1912 Olney Sherwood died at the home of O.D. Crosby four miles west of Anderson. Thursday Nov 20th. Mr. Sherwood had been a resident of McDonald County 38 years and had he lived till Jan. 21,1913 he would have been 80 years.

Son of Jonathan Sherwood and Kesiah Elrod.

1st Husband to Priscilla DeButts (married 9-23-1852, she died 1872, they had 5 known children--David Olney Jr., John Wesley Sherwood, Thomas, Anna & Rua).

2nd Husband to Margaret Elizabeth Russell Sooter Sherwood (married 5-1-1873, they had 5 children together--Elijah, Elisha, Noah, Charley and Minnie).

Margaret had 5 children from 1st husband William Leonard Sooter, Sr (married 9-1-1854)--James Alexander Sooter., Martha, Mary "Mamie" Jane SooterNancy and William Leonard Sooter, Jr.

William Sooter Sr. was a Confederate in Company H., 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles Volunteers, under Stand Watie, (Wm. was bushwacked 11-9-1863 during the war): and
David Olney Sherwood was in the Union, Company M., 6 Missouri State Militia Cavalry, under Capt. McAfee, 6-13-1864 discharged because of an abdominal hernia, caused by saddle horn.

David's son John Wesley Sherwood married Margaret's daughter "Mamie" Mary Jane Sooter, married 1881.

(John Wesley and Mamie's children were Olney (m. Ila Clark), Ida Wilson, George, and Lillie Sherwood.)
