Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church at Nome with the Rev. Raymond Poppe officiating. Burial will be in St. Petri Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Oliver's Chapel.
Olaf Anton Smestad was born March 22, 1890, near Enderlin, N.D., the son of Ole and Louise Smestad. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith there. When he was four years old the family moved to a farm near Nome. He received his education in a rural school there. Mr. Smestad worked on a number of farms in the Nome community. He never married.
Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Michael (Clara) Nyberg, Mrs. Arthur (Laura) Barstad, Jennie and Amelia Smestad, all of Nome, and two brothers, Melvin of Nome, and Albert of Fergus Falls, Minn.
