Johnnie B. Cook (1926-2011)


SHERMAN - A Celebration of life for Johnnie B. (Allen) Cook, 85, will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Mrs. Cook will be laid to rest at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers.

Johnnie Bernice Allen was born January 19, 1926, in Wilburton, Oklahoma to William A. Allen and Lula C. (Jeffrey) Allen and passed from this life on Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the Texoma Healthcare Center. Johnnie married Billy J. Cook on February 12, 1945, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1993.

Mrs. Cook worked and retired after twenty years from Burlington Industry, and then worked and retired from Johnson and Johnson after twenty years of service there. After retirement, she and Billy Joe enjoyed taking their RV down to La Feria, Texas. She loved to fish, and her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cook was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Lela Ann (Allen) Wright, brother T.L. Allen, and favorite uncle D.H. Jeffrey.

She is survived by her loving family daughters Cheryl Yancey, and Barbara Gunville and husband Butch both of Sherman; sons Billy Carl Cook of Panola, Oklahoma, and Mike Cook of Sherman; thirty-four grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers Bill Allen of Wilburton,Oklahoma, Dean Allen of Sherman, and Jim Allen of Muse,Oklahoma; one sister Wilma (Allen) Overbey and husband Bob of Sherman; and several nieces and nephews.
