Willard Krotz, 87, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Willard was born May 16, 1924, in Pleasanton to William and Frances (Munster) Krotz.

In 1949, he married Iola Lammers. She preceded him in death.

Survivors are: daughters, Linda Hessel and her husband, Robert, of Grand Island and Barbara Huff and her husband, Gaylen, of Friend; son, Randy Krotz of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Dustin Hessel of Denver, Hilary Warner and her husband, John, of Des Moines, Iowa, Lindsey Hessel and Clint Huff, both of Denver, Jason Huff and his wife, Cindy, of Greensboro, N.C., Shelley Huff of New Orleans, Jeff Krotz of Lincoln and Erin Krotz of Centerville, Va.; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Leyton Hessel of Denver; sister, Louise Kisling of Pleasanton; sister-in-law, Iris Krotz of Litchfield; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ike and Pearl Talbot of Pleasanton.

Willard was a graduate of Pleasanton High School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from December 1942 to October 1945. He had campaigns in Normandy and the Rhineland. He was decorated with six Bronze Stars.

Willard and Iola made their home in Grand Island. Willard worked as a supervisor for Ulry Talbots, and after retirement he worked for Wells Fargo and Swift.

After retirement, he enjoyed recreational vehicles, fishing, gardening and going to casinos. In his last years, he loved to ride his motorized cart all over his neighborhood.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leo, Clinton and Barney.

Burial was in the Pleasanton Cemetery, Pleasanton, NE.
