J. T. DeWeese Services Friday

John Thomas DeWeese, long time resident of Gonzales and the county, died Wednesday at 6:03 p.m. at the Houston residence of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Flukinger following a long period of ill health.
Mr. DeWeese, a former resident of the Floyd's Chapel community, had gone to Houston to visit his daughter following the death of his wife in July.
He had received a broken hip in a fall there and was taken to a Houston hospital for treatment, later suffering a more serious illness which caused his death.
Last rites will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the First Methodist church with the Rev. Roy H. May, pastor, in charge. Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows cemetery with Seydler Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. DeWeese was born in Indiana on April 12, 1869. He was married to Miss Minnie Mae Bennett on November 7, 1900, and the couple had lived for many years in the FloydsChapel community ere he was a farmer, in later years the couple moved to Gonzales to make their home.
A member of the First Methodist church, he is survived by two sons, William Chester DeWeese off New Braunfels; and Ora Sylvester DeWeese this city; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Cora) Flukinger, Houston; and zmrs. Joe C. (Mildred) Meneley of Pasadena.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Laura Crowe of Evansville, Ind.m and Mrs. Josie McReynolds of Fort Bend, Ind.
