John Robert Carson, 41, was a victim of the Halifax Explosion. He perished with his wife and three youngest children. His two eldest children survived.

John was married to Catherine Major on 11 October 1904, Halifax.
They had five children:

John Edward (Nov. 1904-?)
Kathleen Cecelia (8 April 1908-?)
Harold (1911-6 Dec 1917)
Gordon (1913-6 Dec 1917)
Lillian (1916-6 Dec 1917)

The family lived at 1410 Barrington Street.

Due to the amount of damage done, the tsunami, the fires and a snowstorm just days later, many bodies were either not recovered until the spring or summer. Many bodies were never found at all.

The charred remains of John Sr, Catherine, Harold, Gordon and Lillian were later buried in separate cemeteries probably due to each set of remains being located at different times.
