Lee I. Montoya, 66, Del Norte, died Oct 25 in Denver. He was born Oct. 5, 1923 in Del Norte to Tito E. and Esperancea Chavez Montoya. He married Cordy M. Arellano on Jan 2, 1948. A farmer by occupation, he was a member of S.T.M.B.T.U. Club and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed the outdoors and had served in the Navy.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Tito I. Montoya, Monte Vista; Dan Montoya, Del Norte; daughters, Rita Roybal, Patricia Velasquez, Pamela Montoya, and Mary Lee Montoya, all of Del Norte; Peggy Jackson, Nyssa, Oregon; Angela Gonzales, Lafayette; Lydia, Aurora; brothers, Albert, Florida; Eddie, Utah; sisters, Mae Medina, Monte Vista; Sarah Martinez, Del Norte; and 19 grandchildren.
Rosary was recited Thursday and Friday with the funeral mass on Saturday at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Fr. Eugene Harden, officiating. Burial was in the Del Norte cemetery.
