Erastus M. Platt, a life-long resident of Tippecanoe county, and for many years engaged in farming, died at his home at Stockwell Monday morning at 5:30 o'clock of a complication of diseases. He was 78 years old, having been born May 28, 1851, a son of Jacob and Frances Platt, pioneers. He married on November 19, 1878, his widow and nine children surviving. Mr. Platt was a member of the Christian church and masonic order, the Odd Fellows and the Knights of Pythius. The surviving children are; Quincy O. Platt, Stockwell, Jacob, of Lafayette; William, New Monroe, La; Claude, Sharpsburg, Ia; John, Lafayette; Everett, Battle Ground; Mrs. Lena Locke, Colfax; Mrs. Carrie Roudebush, Stockwell; Mrs. Olga Fisher, Stockwell. He also leaves two brothers, John of Zering, Ia, and Moses of Lafayette; and two sisters, Mrs. Viola Combs of Frankfort, and Mrs. Aggie Hedrick, Mulberry. The funeral will be conducted from the Stockwell Methodist Episcopal church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Franklin and Rev. A. W.
