Although the funeral home marker does say Shadowick, Lewis was a Chadwick, and no one could find him by the other spelling. Some of the related family did spell the name with an S.
Lewis was the son of William W. 'Bill' and Mary Jane Dover Chadwick, both born in North Carolina, and his siblings in the 1880 Pickens County, Georgia census were Mary Ann, Lindsey, Louisa M., William T., Celia and James R.
His sister, Celia, married Andrew Seay and they moved to Polk County, Tennessee which is where Lewis died. His death certificate says he died of a gunshot wound, and family lore is that it was his brother-in-law, Andrew Seay, who shot him in self defense.
