Katie Greiner Dies in Calif; Services Here
Word was received her Wednesday of the death of Mrs Katie Greiner, 83, well known longtime former resident, at Coronado, Calif. where she ahd lived for the past 2 1/2 years. Mrs. Greiner had been in good helath but suffered a blood clot Tuesday. She underwent surgery at the Coronado hospital from which she failed to recover. She died at 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services are tentatively sest for 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St Cecelia's Catholic church here. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Hamilton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs Greiner was born Katie Arndorfer, May 25 1876, at Beaver Dam, Wisc., the daughter of Frank and Anna Arndorfer. She came to Iowa with her parents when she was 8 ears old and on Feb 4 1907 was married to Peter J Greiner in the St. Benedict Catholic church with Father Domberstein of West Bend Grotto fame, officiating. Mr Greiner was an implement dealer here for many years. He preceded his wife in death on Feb. 20, 1940.
Mrs Greiner was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America here.
Surviving children are Mrs Carl [Alma] Pearson, clerk of the district court here; a son, Stanley, and daughter Irma with who she lived in California; Mrs Steve [Norine Murchland, Coronado, Mrs Evan [Norma] Finnell, Brainard, Minn., and a son, Frank Matheis, Coronado. There are five grandchildren.
