The funeral of Solomon Ernst, of Eckville, Albany township wbo suddenly fell over and was dead, was held from the residence of Adam Berk, bis son-in-law, and was largely attended. The cortege proceeded to New Bethel Church, where further services were held and interment was made in the adjoining cemetery.

The remains were attired in his own clothing, rested in a brown casket, and were covered with an eiderdown blanket. Upon the lid of the coffin was a plate inscribed "Father".

Rev. O. S. Scheirer officiated preaching from 1.Samuel 20:5, There is But a Step Between Me and Death.

Four brothers, Daniel, Charles, Amandus, and George, acted as pall-bearers, instead of the regular ones: Reuben Bolicb, Reuben Sovder, James Leibensperger and Daniel Bailey. Funeral Director Greenawalt had charge.

Deceased was 64 years, 11 months and 26 days old, and is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Daniel, Charles, Amandus, George, Jacob, Emaline and Mrs. Ellen Bingaman. He also leaves the following children: Frank, Albert, Mrs. Adam Berk and Annie.
