Esther Kathryn Hardy, daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Rousselle, was born March 5, 1897, near Milford, Nebr. She passed away Aug. 1, 1968, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 26 days. She suffered a stroke four years ago from which she never fully recovered.

 

When she was 12 years old, she moved with her parents to a farm on the outskirts of Seward, Nebr. After graduating from the Seward High School, she taught in the Seward County schools. In 1919 she came to Hitchcock County to teach school and stayed with her grandmother, Mrs. George Angermeir.

 

She was united in marriage to Ralph O. Hardy on June 1, 1921. They lived their entire marriage of 47 years in the Eden Community. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Elva Brown of Manhattan, Kans., Mrs. Joan Morthole of Fort Collins, Colo., and Bob Hardy of Wauneta, Nebr.

 

She was baptized into Christ in 1934 and remained faithful to His church until her death.

 

She is survived by her husband and three children, 9 grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Jean; and two sons-in-law, Merle Brown and Gordon Morthole. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Sara Owens and Mrs. Edna Oaks of Seward, Nebr., Mrs. Juliette Patterson of Boise, Id.; and one brother, Harvey Rousselle of Seward, Nebr. and Ottertail, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Elmer Rousselle.

 

She endured her affliction with patience and cheerfulness. She appreciated the love and kindness shown to her by her relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 3, 1968, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ building in Wauneta with Gordon Naylor officiating. Singers were Jim L. Morrow, Norman E. Morrow, Terry Burr and Donald Mitchell. Pallbearers were Wendel Long, Duane Egle, Don Egle, Howard Gauger, Dale Maris and Wayne Anderson. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Nebr.
