Funeral services for Mr. Edward C. Choate, 57, of Rickman, were conducted Thursday, November 3, 2011 from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Orbin "Dog" Lane officiating with singing by The Short Family.

Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Helena Community in Fentress County.

Mr. Choate died Sunday, October 30, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, as the result of an accident. He attended West Fentress Elementary School and was a graduate of York Institute. He was district manager of Charter Oil Company, and most recently was a business owner and farmer. He and his wife were members of Beaty Swamp Community Church in Monroe. In addition to his love for his family and friends, he greatly enjoyed the outdoors, four-wheeling, and good food.

Born September 11, 1954 in Jamestown, TN, he was the son of the late Claxton Choate and Carrie Choate Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda (Judd) Sullivan Choate; a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Chris Ayers of Baxter; a son, Cameron Choate of Livingston; a stepson, Brett Sullivan and his fiancee, Tabitha Franklin, of Rickman; 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Wanda and Ralph Landry, Martha and Robert Howard, and Glenice Crouch; 5 brothers and 4 sisters-in-law, Charles and Lisa Choate, Carl and Ann Choate, Howard and Lois Choate, Donald and Linda Choate, and Jack Choate; 3 grandsons, Carson Walker, Samuel Ayers, and Mitchell Ayers; and an uncle, Austin Choate and his wife, Alma, of Jamestown.

Pallbearers were Brett Sullivan, Joal Nash, Brent Shake, Jim Shake, Gary Mayberry, Jason Jernigan, Carson Walker, and Chris Ayers.

Honorary pallbearers were Clay Jernigan, Allen D. Loftis, Milton Loftis, Bradley Howard, Scott Howard, Scott Buck, Keith Gaw, and Terry Hitchcock.
