Edmund was born in Iowa, the son of John T. Dunn and Katherine "Kate" Jackson. In 1926, he married Helen Blair Hogg. They lived in Cherokee, Iowa, where Helen was a housewife and Edmund developed two successful businesses. They had four children: Dona, Patty, Gayle and Mark.
In 1960 the children were all grown, and Helen and Ed moved to Loveland, Colorado. They settled in a neighborhood on Spruce Drive. They established a bountiful vegetable garden and lovely flower beds and enjoyed many new friends. Edmund preceded Helen in death in 1980 at the age of 82.
