He had several brothers and sisters. Walter Francis Lowney died at his home on March 26, 1976, unexpectedly. Walter married Virginia Jaunita Gregg in Helena, Montana and they had two children, Walter Gregg and Sharon Hope Lowney. During Walter's younger years, he lived in the Ketchikan, Alaska area and operated a grocery store called "Lowney Pennywise" on Tongass Ave. Nothing remains of this store today, except a parking lot.
