Mary R. Erwin, 83, a resident of Care Center of Abingdon, Abingdon, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. She was born June 17, 1918 at Benton, the daughter of Willard E. "Red'' and Myrtle C. Landon. She married Harold L. Erwin on March 14, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1965. She next married LaVerne Anno in 1969 at Palmyra, Mo. He died Dec. 9, 1971. Surviving are two sons, Jim Erwin, Galesburg and Gary Erwin, Glendale, Ariz.; three stepchildren, Rose Brown, Roseville, Kenneth Anno and John Anno, both of Galesburg; five brothers, Willard Malone, Robert and Donald Malone, all of Abingdon; Dick Malone, Verona and Dale Malone, London Mills; two sisters, Joyce Simms, Oneida and Dollie Brock, Abingdon; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several stepgrandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She had lived in Abingdon and London Mills areas most of her life. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. She worked at the former Blue Bell Manufacturing Company in Abingdon and later at Gross Galesburg for 13 years retiring in 1983. She was a past member of Knox County Home Extension, WWII Mothers and Busy Bees Club both in London Mills. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Abingdon Christian Church with Rev. Raymond McLaren and Rev. Bob Malone officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Christian Church.
