CAREY -- Mrs. Josephine Sammet, 85, passed away at her home at 145 West North Street, Carey Monday at 12:35 a.m. of carcinoma. She had been ill three years.
Born Aug. 31, 1875, in Wyandot County, she was a daughter of William and Mary Jane (Lowmaster) Lanker. On Aug. 22, 1895 she married William Sammet who passed away October 31, 1949.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hearl (Mary) Dible, Carey and Mrs. Russell (Nellie) Patrick, of Lakeside and a son, Lawrence of Crawford; 14 grandchildren 31 great-granchildren; brothers, Ira, Arcadia; Perry, Bridgeport, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Ada Adelsberger, Union City, Ind.; Mrs. Besie Bloom, Fostoria; and Mrs. Floretta Turner, east of Crawford.
Three sisters, three brothers and a son are deceased.
Funeral services are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bristoll funeral home by Rev. T. Benton Peery, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church. Interment will be made in Spring Grove Cemetery at Carey.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.

Mrs. Josephine Lanker Sammet, 85, died in her home, 145 W. North Street, at 12:35 a.m., Monday Sept. 21, 1959. She had been bedfast since June. Death was due to cancer and followed an illness of 3 years.
A lifelong resident of this community. Mrs. Sammet was born 4 miles east of Carey Aug. 31, 1874, to William and Mary Jane Lowmaster Lanker. She was united in marriage Aug. 22, 1895, to William F. Sammet who died Oct. 31, 1949.
Surviving are three children, Mary (Mrs. Hearl) Dible, W. Brown Avenue; Nellie (Mrs, Rusell) Patrick, Lakeside, and Lawrence of near Crawford. There are also 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Ira Lanker, Arcadia and Perry Lanker, Bridgeport, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Ada Adelsperger, Union Clity, Ind.; Mrs. Bessie Bloom, Fostoria, and Mrs. Floretta Turner, east of Crawford. Perceeding her in death was a son, Paul, also three sisters and four brothers.
Mrs. Sammet was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Her pastor, Dr. T. Benton Perry, conducted the funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Bristoll Funeral Home. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery.
