Funeral services for Sam Hayter, Jr., 28, husband of a former Lufkinite, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at his home at 1319 North St. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Hayter was married to the former Katherine Parise, formerly of Lufkin.

Officiating for the services will be the Rev. John Desel, pastor of the Christ Episcopal Church of Nacogdoches.

Mr. Hayter died Wednesday at 6:20 p.m. in a Nacogdoches hospital following a heart attack.

Born June 11, 1924, he was the son of Sam B. Hayter, Sr. and Penelope Martin Hayter of Nacogdoches. Mr. Hayter was a life-long resident of Nacogdoches.

He was a veteran of WWII, a member of Elks Lodge in Lufkin and had been in the lumber and cattle business for a number of years. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors are his wife, Katherine (Katie) Hayter; mother, Mrs. Sam Hayter, Sr. of Nacogdoches; sisters, Mrs. Kelly Bell of Midland, Mrs. Guy Anderson of Nacogdoches and Mrs. W. C. Montgomery of Midland, several nieces and nephews.
