Obituary:
"Rose Anna Simon was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Simon residing in Vienna Township, this county. She was born at Seneca, Kansas, May 15, 1891. When at the age of 11 years she, with her parents, moved to Neuchatel, where the family resided for a short time, thence removing to their present home. Deceased was baptized into St. Paul's German Lutheran Church in her early childhood and remained a member of that church until her death. Her entire life was passed in this immediate vicinity, where she was well known and beloved by all. She was married to J. W. Wood, January 18, 1911, and to this union two children were born: Charles William aged 3 years and an infant daughter Wilma Marie. On the morning of February 9, 1916, at 7 o'clock, at her home in this city, she answered the Master's call and passed to that great beyond, leaving to mourn her departure the husband whom she wed in her girlhood and two motherless babes, together with her father, mother and nine brothers and sisters, as follows: Mrs. Emma Gulick, of Carman, Oklahoma; Mrs. Francis Norris, of Onaga; and Leo, Delia, Oscar, Floyd, Arthur, Marie and Charles Simon, all of whom are still at home. While yet in love with life and enraptured with the world - eve yet lifes noontide bells were tolled; and while the shadows yet were falling to the west, she answered the Master's call, and passed to silence and pathetic dust - to the care and keeping of Him, who wastes not the rainbow, nor the sighing evening Zepher; but who in his divine compassion gives to the withered rose bush the sweet assurance of another springtime. 'Alone into our Father's Will; One thought hath reconciled; That He whose love exceedeth ours; Hath taken home his child; Fold her O Father! In thine arms; And let he henceforth be; A messenger of love between; Our human hearts and Thee.' The funeral services were held in the Baptist church in this city, February 11, at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. W. Bayles of Clay Center. Interment was given in the Onaga Cemetery, where she was laid to rest to await he judgment day."
