Fobian L. Benson, 80, died early Sunday morning, January 30, 1966, at Sacred Heart hospital, where he had been a fourth floor resident for four years since suffering a stroke. He was born February 12, 1885, at Shullsburg, Wisc.

He was grand master of the Odd Fellows Grand Lodge of South Dakota in 1944-45 and representative to the Sovereign Grand Lodge in 1948. He farmed in the Fulton area until his retirement in 1944. He lived in the Fulton vicinity for 54 years.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fulton Methodist church, with the Rev. Frank E. Lochridge, Mitchell, officiating. Burial will be made in the Fulton cemetery, with Odd Fellows committal rites at the graveside.

Friends may call at the Schenk-Noble funeral chapel at Mitchell between 7 and 9 p.m. Monday. The body will lie in state at the Fulton Methodist church from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

He was married to Birdie Martin February 25, 1908, and joined Fulton Lodge No. 123 in 1911. He also belonged to Endeavor Rebekah Lodge No. 72, Fulton, and Mitchell Encampment No. 9 and Canton Success No. 3 of Mitchell.

Survivors are the widow, Birdie, Mission Hill; three daughters, Ruby, Mrs. Oscar Freng, Mission Hill; Roberta, Mrs. Howard Hanson, Mission Hill, and Ruth, Mrs. Lloyd Martinsen, Van Nuys, Calif.; one son, Robert, Fulton; and one brother, Elvin, Letcher.
