Dolores Winters Scotto was born on August 11, 1924 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She departed this life on November 8, 2013. She was the youngest of twelve and last surviving child born to the union of Charles and Lillie Winters. At age seven, upon the death of her mother, Dolores moved to Brooklyn, New York where she was raised by her sister, Naomi. As an adolescent and young adult, Dolores enjoyed singing and dancing and once auditioned on the stage of the famous Apollo Theatre. She attended nursing school and practiced nursing in New York. She was married to Michael and they lived for many years in Long Island, New York while Dolores continued to work as a nurse. During their marriage, Dolores and Mike enjoyed boating, fishing, music, gardening, and traveling. They shared a love for animals and nurtured many pets over the years, including dogs and birds. In 1974, Dolores and Michael moved to Port Charlotte, Florida to escape the harsh winters of New York. Dolores continued her nursing career in Port Charlotte working at local hospitals including St. Joseph's Hospital and Fawcett Memorial Hospital. She also worked at South Port Square Adult Living Facility.

Dolores is survived by Pinky, her beloved Long Haired Chihuahua, her constant and faithful companion. She is also survived by dozens of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Dolores had wonderful friends and neighbors who cared deeply for her as well.
