Funeral services for Freeman Branch, 38 year old farmer of the McGregor community of Montgomery county was held Thursday afternoon at the graveside in McCrimmon cemetery near Mcgregor, followed by burial there, with Rev. H.T. Blount, Baptist minister, officiating. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of funeral arrangements.

He died early Wednesday in a Vidalia hospital after a twenty four hour illness.

Mr. Branch was a World War II veteran, having served two years in the Navy. He was born and reared in the section of Montgomery county that is now Treutlen, but has been a resident of the Mcgregor community for twenty-three years.

He was the son of John Benjamin and Mrs. Maggie Harden Branch, and the husband of Mrs. Mary Louise Wilder branch, all of Mcgregor, and by whom he is survived.

Other survivors include two sons, James, of McGregor, and Pvt. J.B. Branch, U.S. Army, Fort Benning, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas W. Tapley and Mrs. John W. Osborne, Jr., both of Vidalia; a niece and three nephews.
Pallbearers were Otis Wilder, N.A. Wilder, Oliver McLendon, Dorris Joiner, Troy Merritt and M.B. Hutchinson.

While his obit says he was buried in McCrimmon Cem. He also has a marker in Pinecrest. It is unknown if the remains were removed.
