Perry Meeks and Mary Caroline (Adams) were married 27 September 1874 in Memphis, Scotland Co., MO. Together they had 10 children. Thomas Emory, Julius Henry, William Raleigh, George Fredrick, Katie Nevada, Mary Gertrude, Perry Weaver, Lolia, Mabel May and Sophia Jane. Perry served in the Civil War. He was a Private in Company H, 53 Reg., Kentucky mounted infantry. He enlisted at Lexington, Kentucky and served from Oct 17, 1864 to Sept 15, 1865.

Perry Meeks, 76 and Civil War veteran, died at his home at Milwaukie Thursday night after a day's illness. He was stricken with paralysis at his home Wednesday. Mr. Meeks was born in Kentucky and during the civil war was a member of the 53rd Kentucky infantry.
Twenty years ago Mr. Meeks settled in Canby and about five years ago moved to Milwaukie, where he had since resided.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Meeks of Milwaukie; his children, Thomas E. Meeks, Salem; J. Henry Meeks, Spokane, WA.; W. R. Meeks, CA; George F. Meeks, Canby; P.W. Meeks, Milwaukie; Mrs. Katie White, Mrs. Gertie Baty, Milwaukie; Mrs. Mable Ralston, Portland; Mrs. Sophie Faust, Milwaukie, He also leaves 29 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock with John Bruce evangelist officiating. Interment will be in the Zion cemetery at Canby.
